Report: Turkey to Purchase Zeppelin-Type Surveillance Devices from U.S.

The Turkish daily Vatan has reported that Turkey is seeking to purchase two Zeppelin-type intelligence devices from the U.S., in order to better monitor PKK terrorist attempts to infiltrate Turkey via its eastern and southeastern borders.

The devices, known as TBRS, are equipped with surveillance and reconnaissance equipment, and can monitor an area of about 120 km for a period of two weeks.

In October 2006, Turkey's Defense Ministry Undersecretariat sent the Pentagon a letter asking to acquire two TBRS.
