Ultra Electronics wins 3 mln eur Turkish Navy contract

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Defence and aerospace group Ultra Electronics Holdings PLC said it has won a 3 mln eur contract on behalf of the Turkish Navy for its Sea Sentor surface ship torpedo defence system.

The initial contract is to provide one system plus support for the Turkish Navy's MILGEM ship programme, with a further 11 ships planned to be built, the company said.

Ultra Electronics said it will supply an adaptation of the torpedo defence systems supplied to the Royal Navy.

The contract was awarded to Ultra by Havelsan on behalf of the MILGEM consortium.

Chief executive Douglas Caster said the contract is the first export sale of Ultra's ship torpedo defence system.
